Upper Hunter Shire Council has voted to not charge charities for a new development application required under state government law.
Under new legislation passed by the government development applications are now required for temporary shelters used at single day events like sports and shows.
Upper Hunter Shire mayor Barry Rose says the council have voted to also fast track any applications from not for profit groups.
